More Bicycling Milestones

Today I reached more bicycling milestones. First, the most miles I every rode in a single year was 6,020 miles in 1995. After today's ride, I now have ridden 6,044 miles in 2006. Additionally, I've been logging bicycling mileage since May 1986. After today's ride, I have logged 80,000 total miles.

Here is a hummingbird photo which can be used as a desktop background:

Fourth of July in San Ramon

For the Fourth of July, I went to Central Park in San Ramon for music, food, and fireworks. I didn't expect to see anyone I knew, but I saw Steven, Huong,  and Shania Stuart. Shania is a real cutie as you can see in the pictures included.

The red under her lip is because she was eating cotton candy. The other news from them is that they are expecting their second.

Biking Milestones

I've began logging my biking mileage in May 1986. It's now 20 years later and I have logged 76,700 miles bicycling during that time. This year I decided to concentrate on riding days instead of bicycling mileage. This has worked out well since the weather until recently was less than nice. In fact, it was quite rainy and cool. However, because I didn't strive to ride a certain distance, I had motivation to get out and ride. Additionally, I started doing more loops instead of long out and back ride. The final motivation was stopping at Starbucks for a White Chocolate Mocha Grande with wiped cream. Doing this has made riding longer and more often much more enjoyable. Thus, I've riden more this year then ever. I have only missed riding 24 days so far this year and have ridden 2,755 miles so far. Additionally, I had another milestone in April in that I rode 1,024 miles during the month which is the first time I have ridden 1,000 miles in a single month. My previous high was 900 miles in July 1999.

Also, I decide to buy a new bicycle because my older one had about 26,000 miles on it. So, I bought the alunimum version of my older bike which was steel. Here's a couple of pictures of the new bike (with the old windshield thought):

The weather here is very nice now. This plus relatively high gasoline prices means that I plan to ride a lot more.

Updated Web Site

I have been busy riding my bike, taking photos, working on getting my photo story books published, working on my business book, and painting. Additionally, last week I signed up for Shutterfly's professional service. This service allows people to purchase prints of the photos I put there. This week I worked on revising my web site to link to the photos posted on the Shutterfly site. My web site is http://tn3270.home.comcast.net.

Today, I received another publisher rejection note for one of my photo story books.  This leaves  me with 3 outstadning. Although I'm trying the traditional publisher route right now, I may end up self publishing. Additionally, the Shutterfly site may in the future allow me to sell the books on demand.

New Van

Today, I traded in my 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan and bought a 2006 Grand Caravan. I decided to stick with Dodge because I got 166,000 miles on the older van without major problems. Additionally, the newer van has Stow'N'Go seating which will make it more useful whether I'm carrying my bike or not.
